CPH FAQ — Common Questions (Suitability, Conflicts, Complaints, AML)

Frequently asked questions for CPH: how to study scenario-heavy compliance content, what to prioritize, and how to use this hub.

What is the official exam structure?

According to CSI’s Exam & Credits page, the CPH exam is:

  • Exam format: Proctored (remote or in-person at a test centre)
  • Question format: Multiple Choice
  • Questions per exam: 100
  • Duration: 3 hours

What is the passing grade and how many attempts are allowed?

According to CSI, passing grade is 60% and attempts allowed per exam are 3.

How long should I study?

CSI lists 40 – 55 hours of study as a guideline. Your timeline depends on hours per week; use the Study Plan to map that to a 30/60/90‑day schedule.

Is CPH mostly memorization?

You need some terminology, but most points come from applying the same principles consistently: suitability, disclosure, documentation, and escalation.

What’s the best way to study?

Do scenario drills early. After each question, write a “first action” rule and a “document/escalate” rule.

What should I do when two answers look right?

Pick the option that is:

  1. most client-protective
  2. most compliant (disclosure + documentation)
  3. operationally realistic (involves supervision/compliance when needed)

Where do I find official policies?

Use the links in Resources (policies can change).
